Description
This 17 day adventure takes us to the remote north east India States of Assam, Northern Nagaland and south eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

We will travel by comfortable jeeps into the very remote Mon district of northern Nagaland home of the fierce and former headhunting Konyak tribe. This part of Nagaland has only recently been open to the outside world and almost unvisited by foreigners. The trip will take us to Longwa Village situated on the Indo Burma border (in fact half the Kings house is in Burma and the other in India) and to other remote villages. We will be allowed to visit the homes of the various and individual Kings (Angh) of the Konyak tribe. We will camp in comfortable two man trekking tents. Eat delicious Naga curries around the camp fire and listen to their stories of hunting and warrior tales of old.

We will spend several days at the Deban Base Camp situated on the border of the Namdapha National Park in south eastern Arunachal Pradesh. We will live amongst the Thai Kampti, Chakma and Mishmi tribes who still practise the ancient form of Thai Buddhism and Animism alike. Jungle and village walks and a chance to fish for the Golden Mahseer (Tor Tor Barbus) renown for being powerful - lb for lb to that of the Atlantic salmon.

Depending on the katabatic winds of the Lohit Gorge we will spend a couple of days to reconnoitre the uncharted waters of the lower reaches of the mighty Lohit River. For those who wish one can angle for the different varieties of the Mahseer (Tor Tor Barbus). We will take a full camping crew and make camp on one of the sandy beaches.
